I never do mail order mostly because I am worried about temperature issues, particularly in the summer. Not sure if the delivery truck is properly temperature controlled, then it might sit outside in the sun for hours if I am not home. Same reason I don't let prescriptions sit in my car after I pick them up.

I second others that finding a small pharmacy is worth it. When I walk into ours (in DC) the staff knows my name and pulls my meds quickly. When our whole house had strep a couple weeks ago they had our prescriptions ready in 5 min. And we get all of our vaccines there.

Last time I tried to get something fixed at CVS, I had to wait 40 minutes to drop off the prescription and then he offered to fill it “now” but sent me to the pickup line which was as long as the one I’d just waited in. I bailed and went to get lunch.

I've switched to Amazon pharmacy - lower prices (at least for our prescriptions) and quick delivery.

You also can't mail order meds prescribed by an ER doc (one of which apparently has been on backorder "for months" said the pharmacist). Why would an ER doc prescribe something you can't get?

Assuming you mean ADHD medicine. We have gotten a 90-day supply of ADHD meds from our mail order pharmacy for years. Yes, you need a new prescription sent in every 3 months, and someone has to sign for the package, but it is better than waiting in line at the pharmacy!

I go to Wegmans. For recurring prescriptions, I have them autofilled and mailed to my house. For new prescriptions, I don’t think I’ve ever waited in line for more than 10 minutes to pick it up when it’s ready (and 0 for drop offs as all of my practitioners send things electronically ). More than half the time there’s no wait at all.

I’ve never waited for than 5 minutes I guess? It’s just never been an issue. I mostly use wal mart, Costco, and local neighborhood pharmacies.

Every time I’ve been in a long line at the cvs or Walgreens in Del Ray it’s because some customer has an infinite number of questions and absolutely will not shut up. I will never understand it. And these are not questions about a new medication or something easy. It’s always some convoluted request the customer is making of the pharm tech/cashier and despite the cashier being patient with the customer, the answer is not what the customer wants and they won’t end the transaction. And it is across demographics (age, race, gender), the only thing in common is they get their RXs filled in Del Ray.

This week a customer wanted their script filled with half generic and half regular label medicine under the same prescription so they could compare for that month’s supply, and they asked after it had been filled and they wouldn’t accept Walgreens answer of no.

Wegmans for a called in prescription - 37 minutes.

Yes, my parents used to take multiple trips and wait for more than an hour at the Foxhall Walgreen just to get their monthly meds. So much drama. It is a total waste of space.

Now I go to Dupont circle pharmacy to pick up when they call me. No line, no wait, no stress.
