24 years in, My DH knows I don’t like flowers as a gift. I’m not into jewelry or candy or teddy bears either. But I do buy flowers for our house about every other week because I like the way they look. These are cheap grocery store flowers though.

My good friend on the other hand loves when her DH buys her flowers and jewelry and things she already told him she loves and wants (with their joint funds). She is expecting for him to buy her a gift for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, birthday, Mother’s Day, anniversary, etc. She loves receiving gifts and buying small gifts for her loved ones.

My love language is “acts of service”, and my DH knows that. I feel that he loves and is thinking of me when he gets my car washed or fills it up with gas, when he is riding by the dry cleaners and calls to ask if I had anything there that needs to be picked up, when he buys my favorite ice cream treat from the grocery store when he’s out buying beer, etc.

Buying flowers takes no thought.

To me, it's very thoughtful/meaningful. I always appreciate receiving flowers from DH and our kids. But, I love flowers, and he's been doing it since we were in HS.

Also PSA many flowers are toxic to cats, potentially fatal.

I mean the cats are obviously worth it ten times over but I do miss just buying a bouquet of whatever.

Dh picks up flowers from Trader Joe's almost weekly. Of course he does other things for me to show his love, but flowers are one of those things.

2. Ask her if she would like to receive them
3. Obtain flowers from a quality source. They should actually smell good. Most store bought grocery store types have no smell at all
4. Unwrap, cut, place in case for her
5 tell her why you gave them to her, such as “ because I love you”.

Random few times a year for fresh cut flowers. He is more likely to get me something to plant in the garden. Weekly would seem excessive and predictable.

Not really. Seems like a cop out. Plus then they die and I have to throw them away which I hate doing.

Appreciate what you have. My husband stoped getting me flowers many many years ago. I buy them for myself every now and then.
