I think it is really odd to try and use money and material objects to respond to an act of saving someone’s life. To me it is a bit sexist. Like women are superficial and materialistic and no matter what they do in life you buy them things. Same reason I hate engagement rings.

Reducing men to steak and a bj and women to flowers and jewelry are just really sexist traditions that I despise. Humans are not that simple minded. Personally I would be offended by a gift but I do get these sexist ideas do exist because there are some women who do care mostly about shiny and pretty things.

Is this too utilitarian and practical? Wearable ID from Road ID? There’s an enhanced version that gives more detailed med info to emergency responders. I realize this isn’t romantic but certainly could be an extra gift.

Just buying any necklace or bracelet, in my opinion, would kind of diminish the value of what she did for your son.

If he gives her jewelry, which I wouldn't recommend, it would have to be something VERY VERY special and unique to her -- something that he designed and, preferably, something that shows that he is listening to what she says she likes (i.e. she has mentioned that she really loves X country and the gem/metal used in the jewelry comes from that country; or she has said her favorite stone is Y and he gets that because it means a lot to her).

Beyond the jewelry idea -- I think it would be far, far better for your son to be listening to what her interests are and find something very personally related to her. He will never be able to repay the favor, but showing her that HE SEES HER is the closest he can come to thanking her for seeing and saving him!

Even better than buying her a "thing" would be planning an activity or experience with her....and then giving her a letter, book, or framed poem about being the light to someone else. That type of thoughtful, planned EFFORT is WAY BETTER than a bracelet.
