Why are some of you people settling for crap pie crust? Crispy, flaky, and fabulous -- that's a pie crust.

Flaky and crispy is still soft.
Easy for old people to eat. Are you eating crunchy pies?

Do you know words?

Are you genuinely arguing that a good, flaky, crispy *pie crust* should be dry and brittle?

And seriously did you like add the red lines to that screenshot from dictionary.com? Holy shit

Yes, good pie crust is dry, not soggy. It is brittle and shatters into fine flakes when you bite into it -- it is not rubbery, or chewy, or ... soft. WTAF.

I added red because you still seem to have a problem with what words mean, good god. You need all the help you can get. Sad.

This is my current fav and I highly recommend for Thanksgiving. It's been heavily requested every year since it's debut:

Pie is not my favorite, but they are always a celebration of in-season fruit. When yoh only eat blueberries in season, a blueberry pie is very exciting

I'm borderline old.

I'll need cake.

I love pie. My kids like pie. They request my chocolate cream pie specifically. We made multiple apple pies with our picking haul this year. A good pie is harder to make and way more time intensive than a good cookie. Store-bought pie isn't usually very good. We don't eat pie frequently because I don't take the time to make it, not because we like it less.

One of my first jobs was at a pie shop and most certainly the clients skewed elderly. We also had plenty of young people, but I understand OP's observation that old people especially love pie. I don't see a ton of grandmas excited over cupcakes. Cupcakes are trendy but half the time aren't very good...they photograph wonderfully though!

A lot of pastry is something that has ties to traditional cultures and recipes, more than like brownies or ice cream. Maybe when there were more SAHMs who made bread, etc. and had time in the kitchen to bake scratch items that had a lot of resting and waiting time resting it was more popular.

Homemade pie is inexpensive to make if you get fruit in season and is far superior to processed store bought pies.

I do think the older someone is, the more likely they would like pie.

The only pie I get excited about is key lime. Everything else is so bleh.

No child or most children?

We all liked pie over cake when we were kids. Wouldn’t turn down cake but def favored pie given a choice.

Shoofly pie from the Frederick County fair can't be beat.

The Amish know how to bake pie.

It's simple and delicious. It can be tart or sweet, or both. It combines textures. It can be warm or cold. It's good with ice cream. Great way to use up an abundance of fruits. It's not hard to make and doesn't use weird ingredients. It can be beautifully and intricately made, or simple and rustic.

What's not to like?

PS: Now, cake? Cake is soft, lady. Cake is mushy.

Learn words.
