It’s possible…but Trump is going to go down in history as the most criminal, corrupt President ever. He’s going to be remembered in the history books for inciting an insurrection. That’s his legacy because he certainly didn’t have any acrisp accomplishments to lean on. The legacy of the SC justices lies with their decisions. So they may reverse it and align their legacies with Trump, but that’s a heavy price for them to pay for a guy that’s dead of a heart attack in a couple years.

1) offer a stay until they hear the case
2) choose not to hear it, leaving the CO decision in place
3) Choose to hear it and rule one way or the other.

The three dissenting CO justices did so on procedural grounds.

The GOP is going to have a mess if Trump loses this.

I would also submit that if Trump is removed, Biden will withdraw.

Not every state is going to rule this way, so it won’t affect the election at large as much as I think you’re thinking.

Mindisagree even though though I think DY would lose the general election (both popular and electoral). It is heartening that the judicial system is trying to do its part in maintaining democratic checks and balances .

The guy orchestrated a violent Insurrection and came close to pulling off a military coup .., he also has 90 felony indictments and many charges of sexual assaults - there has to be some bright red line to disbar him from running for the highest office in the land …

What standing does SCOTUS even have? It's up to the states to determine how they run their elections. For SCOTUS to step in would be a massive overreach.

I’m not a Trump fan at all, but this move is ridiculously stupid. It only will it get overturned, it reeks of desperation. I rather have Trump just lose in 2024 because people hate him. But to kick him off the ballot is the opposite of democracy.

Washington — The Colorado Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that former President Donald Trump is disqualified from holding the presidency under the Constitution's so-called insurrection clause and ordered the secretary of state to exclude his name from the state's Republican presidential primary ballot.

The landmark decision from the Colorado Supreme Court that Trump cannot hold public office under the Civil War-era provision is unprecedented, and it marks the first time a court has found him to be ineligible to return to the White House due to his conduct surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The ruling does not apply outside of Colorado, and the state high court paused its decision until Jan, 4.

"We conclude that because President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Secretary to list President Trump as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot," the court's majority wrote. "Therefore, the Secretary may not list President Trump's name on the 2024 presidential primary ballot, nor may she count any write-in votes cast for him."

Lawsuits challenging Trump's candidacy have been filed in more than 25 states ahead of the 2024 election, though the Colorado case brought on behalf of six voters marks the most immediate threat to his campaign.

Trump is likely to appeal the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court, setting up a high-stakes showdown over his eligibility to run just as voters in early states begin casting their ballots in the Republican primaries. The case adds to the ongoing legal issues facing Trump and his presidential campaign, including a criminal case related to the 2020 presidential election that is set to go to trial in March if allowed to move forward.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold has until Jan. 5 to certify the candidates for the state's March 5 primary. National polls show Trump atop the field of candidates vying for the Republican presidential nomination.
