You need to be hitting in the cages, getting infield reps at home, lifting weights, and maybe hire some professional 1:1 training. That's the way it is in MOCO now. The best guys are doing that no matter where they play.
Agree, but PP who were happy with Selects did not mention the outside extra work and seemed to imply Selects prepared their kid for HS ball. We just didn’t see that with our son. Moved to travel to get more consistent coaching, teammates with same goal of playing in HS, more reps with team, etc.

They have a reputation of stacking their teams with kids with summer birthdays to play down a year. That’s helpful for the W-L record, but really bad for a players development. Make sure your kid always plays at their grade level if they hope to play in HS. If they’re out just to have fun then it’s no big deal a a good program.

I was reading this thread and want to echo this poster. Same exact experience.
We loved BCC Select. Agree that coaching can vary, but I feel like that is also the case with travel baseball.
My son’s teammates did go on to play HS ball. And like the PP, my son also now plays Varsity at his public HS on a competitive team.

Anonymous wrote:Avoid BCC Select. The coaching is too variable. The program always struggles to find enough committed coaches so there is usually at least one coach who was dragged into it reluctantly and doesn’t know how to run a practice or improve his team’s obvious areas of weakness. That is almost never a good experience. And the draft is a mess — the PP who said the evaluations are inaccurate was spot on. It’s glorified rec ball.
