This. I dust mine with powdered sugar.

Someone else is bringing fruit salad. I just want something yummy and easy. Brownies might be a good idea. Any way I could elevate them, maybe with frosting?

Buy 3 large candy bars, like Symphony bars and brownie mix for a 13 x 9 pan. Put half the batter in the pan, lay the 3 candy bars over then top with the remaining batter and bake.

That sounds delicious, but I wouldn't hide nuts in a food for a gathering where you don't know if someone's allergic.

Nuts throughout so you can see them? Easy enough to avoid, but this sounds unwise.

Go to the store, maybe Balduccis, put it in tinfoil, pretend you made it. It’s good am I right?

Most Boston cream doughnuts are better than Boston cream pie, less expensive, and actually easier to eat because of no crumbles. Add little plates and plastic knives/forks so people can easily cut and eat half portions.

It may not be impressive, but it just makes for a great dessert. I learned this by watching an old geezer finish his lunch at a cafe, order said doughnut for $1.50, and eat it on a plate with a knife and fork. Slices of pie were $4.00+.

I know this isn’t helpful but I would
seriously side-eye someone bringing fruit salad if tasked with a dessert

I wouldn't. I'm grateful every time I see fruit as a desert option. And I don't think I'm alone there.

Nope. You’re not alone. I’m always happy to see fruit salad or a fruit tray.m

Same here. The berry bowl someone mentioned sounds especially good.
