For u9-u12 it appears to be 1 team with 8 field players and a goalie in most age groups. It also appears to be a mix of kids from different teams not just all from top team(red or academy)

The level of play in the oldest group tonight — the 2012 boys — was impressive. And all the kids looked like they were having fun as they were competing — you could tell those kids love the game!

Of those who tried out, how many received offers to play on the Elite team?

No way to do stats, but I know several u12 girls that tried out that did not make it.

Same with u10– I thought it was more selective this year.

I would say almost every kid U9-U12 who tried out or went to an ID session made it onto a team. Also, from our Club team, 20 kids play outdoor soccer and 14 decided to sign up to play Futsal. So 70% wanted to play and 100% were put on a team....but only after they paid their futsal fees.

You must be talking about Alexandria because that wasn’t the case with Arlington. Most age groups have 8/9 kids max

14 kids makes 2 teams. They won't roster 14 kids on 1 futsal team.

Not pp, but I know it is not Alexandria, because they didn't have tryout /ID sessions this year.

It looks like most age groups took one team with 9-10 kids Not sure about older age groups but from the u9-12 age group I would say there were probably between 20-30 kids per age group on average. 2-3 fields with around 10 kids on each field.

In most older age groups (u13 and above )they held a separate tryouts for the ECNL kids and gave the ecnl kids offers without having them compete against non ecnl players. I guarantee they missed out on someone who is a better futsal player than an ecnl kid but not a better soccer player. IF they were really interested in building a program they would have had everyone compete together and pick the best 10 futsal players.

I think this happens often, bigger clubs hold tryouts or ID sessions, but what I saw was the tops teams were already set. Within 15 minutes of open try-outs, the teams were divided up into 3 tier groups with the top players (who already were wearing futsal team uniforms) going off to practice away from everyone else. Coaches did not seem to have time or interest in bringing new or outside talent to their top teams. --But then, I suppose that is like life. Changing jobs? Often you have to start at he bottom and work you way up.

They need to keep their customer base. People get angry if outside players come in and take spots while they have been "loyal" to the Club and their kid has always been on the top team. Certain clubs the rosters barely change for that reason as well.

Agreed, the 2009 Boys Academy is a very "sticky" team - very little movement up or down.

No i presume they learned from last years fiasco at Alexandria are making sure things go better. After U12 i see no point in doing futsal. It's a waste of time that just cuts into regular season.
