I can’t name names (obviously).

But I will say this: I know black and non-Hispanic white people with titles in county government programs. They are irritated by all the money the county pours into special initiatives for Latinos to prevent gang violence, to keep them in school, etc. They think the violence is contained in the Latino community and doesn’t impact the greater community, so let them kill each other…and stop throwing money away because the interventions don’t work. Why? It’s a subcultural norm they choose.

ICYMI: the black community in MoCo does not like having lost their priority minority status to Latinos. It creates real conflict and they aren’t shy about sharing such sentiments in public meetings.

The shifting demographics in the county will come to a head. But it will be too late since everyone will have put down roots.

Re: police - I know police in moco, PG, DC, and Baltimore. There absolutely is not only a mentality but also data indicating where most crime happens and who the perpetrators and victims are. In certain areas the violent crime data is mostly DV or household/neighborhood violence. Police know who the players are before they get out of the car. “Fine. Let them kill each other if that’s what they want.” That’s the mentality.

You think this is terrible, just think about the hundreds of native American teenage girls and young women who went missing or turned up murdered after hordes of white dudes went out to the Bakken formation for jobs drilling oil and gas.

Almost never random when it comes to the Hispanic immigrant gangs. It could have been any of those things. She could have been connected to a rival gang. She/her family could have been on the wrong side of gang violence in their home country and it could have easily followed her here. Sometimes they kill people who are trying to get out of the gang or get out of a human trafficking situation. It’s extremely sad all around.
