We just plugged in stats into college vine and it told us that DS has no Reaches. VT is on his list (Collegevine says it's a match) and he's not interested in W&M. Is UVA a possibility at all as a reach or is it just a wasted app? ED maybe?
I don't know of a UVA admit below a 4.4 weighted GPA last year.
I do know of a 4.3 ED denied.
I admit to finding this believed GPA threshold to be a bit ridiculous. My son has a 4.37 (after junior year) GPA. DO you consider that to be at the 4.4 GPA mark?
"believed" GPA? This pp is just stating from personal experience. And read the data, look at the scattergram, read the AO's blog - that all say as much.
If my kid had a 4.37 and AP level in all 5 core subject areas, and wanted to go to UVA? Then, sure, go ED.
BUt you didn't answer my question. Do you consider a 4.37 GPA to be above the 4.4 threshold?
Oh my god lady, why do you care if I'D round up your kid's 4.37?
From all I know personally and have seen, read, heard, 4.4+ was good enough for admission and a 4.3 was not.
Research the data and see what YOUR KID wants to do.
Thank you for proving my point that this is an absurd idea to insist that there is a clear GPA line for UVA.

A junior year 4.37 would be well above 4.4 at the point of graduation.

Agree. No chance at UVA if from Nova
Total BS.
Everyone new here- keep in mind that there are a handful of psycho moms that squat on this site and attempt to dissuade everyone and their brother from applying to UVA and WM. If your kid is getting out of West Springfield with a 3.7 or above and an SAT of 1300 or above he has a legit chance at admission.
+1. My ACHS kid got in with a 3.8 and a 1310. No sports.

UVA

White male, Business major. (Pre business for uva).
I know these are reach schools btw.
Based on <50 percentile I would not, but 1380 is in the 92nd percentile overall and I don’t want them to think it’s like an 1100 if he doesnt submit.
