I think remind can translate simultaneously

Teachers individually have built their own text lists. Canvas/synergy lets them send bulk emails.

Remind ties it together so parents get messages in the system they prefer and adds translation services on top. A lot of parents don't speak English.

I don't think the principals/schools have had this kind of ability before, to text parents quickly when there is an emergency for example.

I downloaded the app at my school's request, but we never get any messages on it.

MCPS needs consistent communication tools. It's really irritating that they are constantly changing up how they communicate.

Our HS uses it this way too. It's great.

I had talking points setup already and really don't want to install more apps for MCPS. Can't they just use email for this?

A lot of parents and kids ignore email. Remind allows for email, app messaging and text messages. The latter two are much more popular and effective ways of reaching families.

A lot of parents also don't want to install some new app every year just for MCPS

You don't have to install the app....you will receive the information via text or email if you don't have the app.

OK, then don't install the app. It's just an option. You can just get the texts and/or emails if that works better for you.

Synergy is ParentVue

I was volunteering at the school the other day and ran into a teacher who asked if I got the communication about something. I was like how was it sent? And they were confused themselves - they were like maybe it was in Parentvue, wait maybe I sent it in Synergy or on regular email.
