For my first kid, I think there was sometime the week before ED applications were due. So kids skipped en masse to finish up their applications. (Hardly a rebellion...)
At our HS it was supposedly last Friday. Don’t know how many actually skipped.
This year the quarter end on 10/31 and 11/1 is a day off for kids. Seniors have no reason to skip this year.

I feel like it is a fun rebellion/reward, but even with fun rebellions there may be consequences. Probably not, and it will be a day where he had fun with friends and has an unexcused absent on his high school record. Really not a big deal unless he has too many unexcused absences already or misses a test. But that will be his decision to weigh. But I don't want to convey a lesson of "just lie to get out of consequences or have other people lie for you." So I won't send in a note saying he is sick. Maybe a note saying he was doing something for his social health!

That’s lying, honey. He’s not doing it for his social health, he’s doing because everyone else is doing it. He’s a sheep.
