Also, the only comment my husband ever makes is “oh what cute pajamas”. He has no input or clue about baby clothes lol

Baby pants? She'd likely do the onesie [long or short sleeve] and pants if they fit properly. Sorry new dad but there is a wide variability even within some brands.

You want pants? Get Hanna Andersson baby wiggle pants- soft plus soft waist and consistent in sizing as the baby grows. I don't buy people baby clothes except for close family on the back end to replace gifts with what is needed.

3.5 weeks? I assume mom is on maternity leave and does the bulk of newborn care- so she gets to dress the baby. Mom privilege. Sorry, not sorry.

If you want to put an outfit on for a photo op, by all means do.

You’ll be able to dress baby how you like when he/she is a bit older.

I can’t even imagine my DH giving AF what our newborns wore? LOL. He chose a lot of their clothes once they hit toddlerhood+ plus newborns who cares…

I’m dying over the fact that it’s 3.5 weeks and this guy thinks his wife is wasting baby clothes and that SHE’s the controlling one.

I usually dressed the baby in the (impractical) outfit for a photo, then changed baby back into something comfy. Then I’d send photo of baby in the outfit to the gift giver. Why does it even matter if the outfit is “wasted”? Most baby clothes are barely worn before outgrown anyway.

She is the controlling one. If it was a dad refusing to allow his wife to put the baby in anything other than sleepers, and taking off any outfit she put on the baby, no one would be okay with that.

He says the wife changes the baby’s clothes when she does a diaper change. All he’d have to do to keep the baby wearing button down shirts slacks and sweaters would be to dress the baby himself.

He doesn’t want to actually take care of the baby. He wants to control how his wife dresses the baby and dictate the baby’s outfits.

I think OP needs to see a therapist to talk about his anxiety and control issues.

Men can also deal with mental health problems after the arrival of a new baby. His whole clothing fixation sounds so bizarre that I really hope he gets help.

For heavens sake. 3.5 weeks.

My kids lived in baby gowns for the first month. Open at the bottom was easiest for changing so that’s what we did. With a swaddle most of the day.
Worry about what is easy and comfortable, not what present gets used.

If you bring this up at the check up I hope your wife and the doctor both laugh at you.

+1 I think OP is the controlling one. At that age we baby was always swaddled arms in, no one would see outfits.

I thought this was a baby who was a couple months old.

You realize it’s not normal to fixate this much on how your wife dresses your newborn, right?

You care more about the happiness of people who don't even know if your kid is wearing the stuff than your own wife? Newborns look dumb in two piece outfits. Team wife.
