Perverts will eye up your little princess in smocking and bows too fyi. This is not a compelling reason for policing a child’s clothes. People can (and unfortunately will) be creepy about literally anything.
That being said, no I would not let my 7yo wear a crop top. I’m fine declaring certain things including types of clothing as for older kids/adults only according to our house rules. I have similar rules for makeup, body modifications like ear piercing, having a cell phone, etc. Nothing wrong with parents who choose different ages to allow these things than me — I would let my kid be friends with a crop top and earring wearing, cell phone having 7yo — but I set the “what is age and situation appropriate” rules in my house. My mother did the same for me growing up and I never found it terribly restrictive since the ages she set for things seemed fair and consistent.
