Yeah, we get “income inequality” is to blame, but at the same time, we throw millions at it, and leniency, or studies, or is not an immediate solution to the massive spike. We need to vote for strict on crime politicians and people who have the will to let police arrest and courts prosecute. If not, the crime will keep rising.

Post a sign that says "that's why you cannot have nice things".
Yeah, creating a food desert for the vast majority of residents who are just trying to live there because of several individuals who are running product scam operations would just be hilarious... Are you insane?

Yes it does. And the good people of the neighborhood should be hopping mad that thieves among them are causing this to happen.
Only the people living there can fix this.
What do those people do? Seriously? What do you propose? If you're Mrs. Smith who has lived there for 40 years and you don't steal, what is your responsibility? Are you required to set up a brute squad?

Regardless of the crime increase, Everyone living in their $950k 16ft wide row houses in dc are idealistic and altruistic to a fault. They’ll keep voting for idiots like Charles Allen because he has (selective) “evidence based” policies that show, effectively, leniency for shoplifting and violent crime is like, holistically (or whatever), “better” for the community than actually prosecuting criminals. This cycle won’t end until we get a broader base of moderate voters, which will never happen. Congress should step in and implement a crime control board.
One thing they can do is vote for different politicians. One can only hope....

Oh no, *those* residents matter. They can get the attention of their local police to set up and do something. Actually, this already happened, when the CVS's in Chevy Chase and Palisades were being hit and the residents flipped out until the cops posted cars at each one. Wonder why that doesn't happen in SE?
