He and his brother, both.

+1. Married too young, had kids way too young. Never had time to enjoy her youth.
Sucks for the kids.
Tale as old as time.

Totally agree, it’s hard having two young kids at any age. Plus the pressures of both their careers. It’s sad no matter what. I hope they are able to work it out peacefully.
Let's not pretend they were in the thick of dealing with two young kids. They have an army of help.
I’m sure they had help but she had two babies back to back. That’s not easy no matter how much help you have. Also we don’t know how much or how little help they had.
I mean, I think we can be confident that they had the ability to get all the help they needed. But that doesn't mean babies won't strain your marriage. One thing that happens is that even if you have nannies and other help, partners can have different ideas about both how much of the hands-on parenting the actual parents should do (versus hired help or extended family), and also which parent specifically should be doing it.
The fact that the split seems to be so closely related in time to when Sophie returned to work might indicate that they had different ideas about this. I've known a number of non-famous couples for whom this is the case. And women already get so much cultural guilt around hiring help (or even sending their kids to daycare), so if a woman who wants to work also gets a guilt trip from her partner, it doesn't matter how much money and other resources there are, it's going to create a lot of conflict in the marriage.
