So he had kids while he was serving time in the pen. I believe he served 4 years for shooting 2 people (10 yr sentence with 6 yrs suspended).

I know this is intended to mock the Dad, but we really don’t know what led into this. If you read what so-called “Coach Vince” said to the Dad about his kid, it comes off as really dismissive. What was going on with the kid? Did some club favorite spike the kid, and Coach Vince blew it off?

GTFOH.... The only article available in this says that the coach said "are you ready to go back in?" There's nothing dismissive about that. AND EVEN IF THERE WAS it doesn't justify a response of physical assault.

If this is a PW team, there's nothing surprising here. We've played a couple of their teams (both rec and travel) and the parents were nasty....even to their own children on the field (some of the players were telling their parents to shut up...it was kind of sad actually). There seems to be no attempt by the club or the league to stop the behavior. It's a shame it came to this.


It is a Prince William county team…


When my kid played a PW team we went to group of fields that had each individual field surrounded by very tall chain link fences. Only players and coaches could enter the fenced in area, all spectators had to watch outside the fence. Was like being in jail. In all the years of my kid playing soccer and all the teams we have traveled to from NC to NY (including PA and NJ where parents are nuts) I have NEVER seen anything like it since.

I hope the coach recovers. BTW he was a volunteer subbing for a friend. He didn't know these kids nor this parent.


When my kids played at Barca Academy there was a rule, no parents could be inside the fences or down on the pitch. You could watch from the stands at Evergreen. There were rules and you were not supposed to individually talk to the coach--at games, practices, etc. If you had an issue, you emailed the Administrator who would set up a time to speak with the TD--sometimes the coach was there too. The parents were not supposed to interfere and there were no parent managers/volunteers.

I loved it. Let the coaches coach and stay the fk out.

I can't imagine what home life is like. A violent man like that is likely violent to his family at home too. Guarantee it. Poor kid (and wife and siblings) indeed.

They usually are. But there are parents even on my kid's team who really like to wander over to the player side and chat with the coach or the kids. It's usually during scrimmages, not necessarily games. I always found it weird but the coach never put a stop to it so...

Clearly there’s different opinions on what a tall fence is. If I can stand and see over the fence, I don’t think they’re tall. Maybe parents are upset about the tall portions behind the goals to stop balls from going beyond the fence line.

I can’t even think of a facility like you’re describing in PWC. And when I hear tall chain fences my immediate thought are some FFX fields like sully highlands.


Howison has fences around at least two of the three fields there and parents stay outside the fences. Fences are not tall though.


That was my other thought but like you said, the fences aren’t tall there.

I do know there’s been clubs that come to howison and don’t like that they cannot sit on the actual pitch but there’s not much sideline room so it makes sense.
