Yeah, the economic powerhouses of our nation are so awful. All those sky-high property values are so awful. You know why you can't point to any Republican run cities that are crime-free utopias? Because the educated people live in cities and know that while Democratic policies may not be perfect, Republican policies are even worse.

Imagine how ignorant you'd have to be to look at decades of failed Republican policies - handouts to the rich, denying healthcare, denying bodily autonomy, killing jobs, screwing the poor, racking up debt, and believing THAT is what's going to improve things in our cities.

Love it. A liberal referencing “bodily autonomy” - would bet anything she was for vaccine mandates.

And for closing public schools. And against charters and vouchers.

Sounds like someone who values education, public health, and women.

What is everyone's fixation with per capita crime rates? It is a terrible metric by which to judge the quality of life across different areas of the country.

Because that is a good measure to compare different size towns/cities.

And Congress accomplishes so much of their own business that they will get right on top of your packages being stolen from your front porch and recycling pick up being delayed too. Plus Congressional staffers will be super efficient at processing those public school forms and running the DMV. /s

Actually, DC Justice Lab talking points aside, the fact is that DC is an outlier with its soaring homicide rate. Dropping in all other major cities. Even Baltimore is on a downward trajectory.

I wish someone could get a functional 911 call center for a start, it has led to dead people and this week, dead dogs. The problems are well known but never fixed.

A functional and certified crime lab would certainly help the prosecution rate. It has repeatedly lost certification and has repeatedly missed deadlines for reapplication.

Why is the unacceptable state of the most basic of govt services, underpinning public safety, allowed to continue, year after year? I've been here since the early 90s and after a real upswing in the 00s, DC is sliding back. It's not just crime and the above, DCPS quality is slipping, too.
