And you think the House GOP is going to do it?
Literally the only reason they want to rescind DC home rule is to hamstring DC's ability to do anything for itself so the House GOP can neglect DC, make DC worse, then point to DC and say "see, look at these urban liberal hellholes!"
All they have to do is point to any other major city in the US. Don’t need DC to illustrate how awful Democratic policies are.

Yeah, the economic powerhouses of our nation are so awful. All those sky-high property values are so awful. You know why you can't point to any Republican run cities that are crime-free utopias? Because the educated people live in cities and know that while Democratic policies may not be perfect, Republican policies are even worse.
Imagine how ignorant you'd have to be to look at decades of failed Republican policies - handouts to the rich, denying healthcare, denying bodily autonomy, killing jobs, screwing the poor, racking up debt, and believing THAT is what's going to improve things in our cities.
Love it. A liberal referencing “bodily autonomy” - would bet anything she was for vaccine mandates.
And for closing public schools. And against charters and vouchers.
Sounds like someone who values education, public health, and women.

DC currently has no functional govt and it is anarchy. Congress needs to step in to restore basic law and order.
Uh…. thats because DC had a way lower murder rate in 2012 that all those Midwest and southern shithole cities, but guess what, the per capita murder rate in those places is HIGHER than in DC right now.
What is everyone's fixation with per capita crime rates? It is a terrible metric by which to judge the quality of life across different areas of the country.

It's a factual statement not a political slogan. Political slogans are not allowed on license plates.

Of course this will never happen and of course it is theater.
But not at all a bad idea. This is a federal district that should be run by the federal government.

The ironic and dirty little secret is that the DC Democrats would strongly oppose getting rid of the federal income tax. Which is sad because it is the one thing that’s actually attainable and would be supported by the House GOP.
