I'm a skinny woman and I don't care a bit what anyone else eats.

When I was about 20, though, I traveled around Europe with a beautiful English girl who somehow never seemed to eat anything! She wasn't super skinny, either. I always felt bad about eating in front of her, since she seemed to be not eating in order to save money.

When I offered to buy her meals, she always refused.

I am thin and don’t care what my friends eat as long as they have good manners.

Me. But I’m only 5’ 1. I’m assuming it’s harder to be a size zero if you’re 8 inches taller since you’d probably be proportionally larger structured.

I have been on both ends of the scale and always order what I want without giving it much thought. If I’m suggesting an app for the table I try to remember if someone is avoiding certain ingredients but my meal is my own domain and I assume no one is concerned about what others at the table are eating!

Yup. I mentioned upthread, my friend who eats a lot and still is tiny. She’s also short. We’re both in our 50s.

That is a good job question. I am not sure.

I’m a size 0 and I eat a lot at restaurants. I order what looks good with no regard to caloric content.

I don’t judge what others order and a lot of times I find that I eat more than everyone else.

I think you should order what you want, but we all have our hang-ups. If you’re more comfortable going light at these meals, then eat beforehand.

My bestie is a 00 and when we have dinner out she orders and eats tons of food, and usually dessert. Please work on just enjoying your time with your friends and eat what you like.

This is a YOU problem, not them.

I never order salads in restaurants, BTW. They're never washed.

You have won the genetics lottery. If I do not stick to consuming no more than 1200 calories/ day, within the 8 hour period per day, my size 14 frame will become a size 20 in a matter of months. I am glad you don’t care what others order but I do get all types of “advice ” from my slim friends when eating out. It’s frustrating but I just go along and let them order for me.

If someone is commenting on and, indeed, dictating what you should eat, you deserve better friends.

I’m slim, but exercise a ton and eat a lot. One of the most awkward meals I’ve ever sat through was with a visitor who ordered a teeny tiny side salad while everyone else ordered normal meals. It couldn’t possibly have been enough to be satisfying, and I felt bad that she was so self-conscious. She was neither ill nor picky, and I’m sure it was out of fear of being judged. That was 20+ years ago, and I still wonder if there was anything that could have been said to make her feel more at ease without making a huge deal out of it all.

I have been that person and no, there's nothing you could have said to make me more at ease. Drawing attention to it would have been worse.
