Or it could be super religious propoganda books that the local libs want removed. This could go either way as Library serves the local residents.
Maybe OP can connect to a diff library in the district to swap books unwanted by their locals?

And just to be clear, most school librarians are in positions with pensions. So, a librarian protesting this and losing her job, would be like if you stood up to something and the consequence was to empty your retirement accounts.

School librarians in Texas are being told that they can not have anything on their shelves that they have not, themselves, read, and have promised are free of X, Y, and Z (which are not well defined).

Which, since no one can read 11,000 books between now and school opening, means that kids will lose access to many many books. The fact that the legislature isn't banning them by title, doesn't mean much.

Your removal process is going to involve making a big pile at the front of the library where you ordinarily have book displays and putting signage on the pile that says “For removal/deaccession, required by [citation to law].” I mean, the books have to go somewhere while you figure all of this out!

Then find the biggest On Social Media people you know in your area and make sure they see it.

And/or, if you have a sufficiently anonymous Twitter acct yourself, tweet it and tag in the ALA and its current President (who is very online).

I hate social media, but this is a good use of it. Try it, OP. Politicians hate having their hypocrisy made public. When I say hypocrisy, I mean they crow that they love our country and hate censorship, but they are just protecting them l'il babies from nasty books that will hurt their growing minds. Put it in their faces. Maybe find a photo of the bonfires the Nazis made of books they didn't like, and juxtapose the two. The parallels are real, sadly.

I don't think OP has much of a choice. She may speak out, and lose her job because of it. They'll find a reason to fire her.

I understand the dilemma, but I'd remove the books, OP. Band together with other librarians to protest, but don't quit your job or get fired over this. You can find ways to speak out against this censorship without sacrificing yourself and your family's welfare.
