The name is not the problem. The most offensive thing about that airport is the mobile lounge / people mover things that they still use, and are about to spend millions of dollars renovating instead of building an underground railway. I literally hate the place because of those things. I don’t hate any other airport, I don’t hate a train or bus station or any other entity. But Dulles sucks so bad- It’s like we have a 3rd world airport in our nations capital, and as soon as DCA or BWI have international flights, I’ll never have to fly out of Dulles again .
Wow, are you unhinged! There IS an underground train there already. And the people movers are no big deal. Dulles is infinitely better than National or BWI.
Dulles is the least used airport in the region, it should be shut down

Now you're just spewing lies as you stomp your feet? Dulles is the largest and busiest airport in the DC area. But you knew that.
Washington Dulles International Airport is located 26 miles from DC in suburban Virginia. Dulles Airport is also the primary international airport for the DC region, with almost 140 nonstop domestic and international destinations on nearly 40 airlines.

It's the busiest airport in the D.C. metro area, with 36 million passengers passing through its halls in 2018. If you're flying internationally, this is probably the airport you should pick, as it has 57 nonstop options to Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America (plus 87 nonstop domestic routes).

The underground train serves only 1 terminal, and does not move any of the passengers on international flights. They should have built the underground train for the entire airport, but didn’t due to cost. Now they are about to waste millions refurbishing the people movers. As someone who flies frequently, there is literally no other major airport in the world that makes passengers get off a plane and then have to wait in line, board one of those things, wait around 10 more minutes for the stragglers coming off the plane to get on, be crammed inside, travel across the tarmac and then wait to get off again, all before you’ve even gone through customs. It is a 3rd world airport.

Naming it after GW would have (and still would) caused confusion with DCA. There is now at least one airport that incorporates the name of Abe Lincoln — and a few other with a city name of Lincoln.
I’m a firm believer in generally not naming something after someone until 50+ years after that person’s death.
Why not name it after: RFK, MLK, J. Edgar Hoover, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, Northern VA, Virginia, or Frederick Douglass
Why would you name it after RFK
John Warner would be the most suitable.

DCA should be shut down now that IAD is connected to the metro. There's no reason to have an airport in the middle of the DC metro region that can't handle the bigger planes. DCA only exists for Congressmen to catch flights to their home state.
Well no, a few others of us use DCA too.
You sound so rational, PP.
