That’s a gourd- a fruit.
We are using culinary terms here, not botanical ones.

To insufferably pedantic PP taking issue with the classification of zucchini, please go away and let the rest of us discuss veggie/“fruit” options!
OP specifically asked for a green vegetable. There’s probably a reason for that. They didn’t ask about all vegetables, including those that people commonly miscategorize as vegetables. I’m waiting for someone to suggest a watermelon because it’s green on the outside. What a dumb dumb one would look like if you go to your doctor and tell them what a healthy, green vegetable theyre adding to their diet with zucchini LOL.
I’ve never heard anyone over the age of 12 use this phrase, and not since the ‘80s.
We always have spinach, kale, broccoli, cabbage, and green onions on hand. I grow zucchini and cucumber every summer and love those as well.
Grated zucchini is great mixed with any ground or finely chopped protein on your choice, your favorite spices (we like harissa and sumac), bound with an egg, formed into Pattie’s, and grilled, broiled, or pan-seared.
Its underrated IMO.

Yeah, yeah, I know.
OP can go ahead and ban them from her house.

You know some people are told by their physicians to include more green vegetables in their diet so adding a zucchini would not help that from a health perspective. No need to be rolling your eyes when you’re the one suggesting a fruit when someone’s asking for a green veg.
Are you arguing that zucchini isn't healthy or beneficial to add to the diet?
Eating a variety of plants is an important part of a healthy diet. Zucchini fits in well with that.
I'm arguing that you aren't answering OPs question. They didn't ask what variety of plants you eat.

I’d bet a million dollars that any doctor recommending green vegetables is ALSO referring to culinary vegetables…
