PSA for anyone who does not have this kind of time - research says that as low as 20 minutes of weight lifting per week reduces your risk of death. 75 mins of vigorous exercise is linked to better cardio health. These numbers are realistic and achievable. Many people here like to work out longer, but you don’t need to commit that kind of time if you don’t have it!

There have also been studies that show a 20 min workout gets the same fitness results as a 40 min workout.

Lastly, even 10 minutes is way better for your body than 0. I have little kids and i am tired. I do 10-20 min workouts most of the time. It works surprisingly well!

Get up early and do it before work.

Currently, none. But today 30 mins. Yay.

I try to get 200 zone minutes which really doesn’t require that much per day. 20 mins per day is usually enough.

^ I forgot to add that I also do it for health reasons: to lower cholesterol and glucose levels.

You know why I take fitness seriously? Because what is the point of being on this Earth if you are going to be like everyone else? A well built physique is a status symbol. It reflects you worked hard for it, no money can buy it, not even DCUM money. You cannot borrow it, you cannot inherit it, you cannot steal it. You cannot hold onto it without constant work. It shows discipline, it shows self respect, it shows patience, work ethic and passion. That is why I do what I do with my time.

Yup. I get you're tired. I'm tired. We're all tired. But you know what exercise will do for almost everyone? Help you sleep better. Make you happier. More thankful. Less depressed, less anxious, less hurt, less upset, etc. It makes you healthier in body and more importantly, in mind.

Of course it's hard, especially to get started. It feels hard, exhausting, flat out difficult. But guess what -- you can do difficult things and survive! And even get better at them!

I agree with the excuses post, that is 100% true. The limited people in here saying that don’t have time could very very likely cut something else out.

But I identify more with this post. And I actually enjoy the work. A lot actually. And I like not feeling like a bag of crap. How I look is cool I guess, but I don’t really care.

I also like doing cool stuff. Like riding a bike for 100 miles. Or knowing I can run faster than most people can run a mile, but effectively indefinitely at my easy pace with appropriate fueling. That’s pretty neat. And I don’t even want to talk about it or even show it to others. I just like doing that stuff and the science that goes with training to do all of it. What a time to be alive as a fitness dork!

I am a 40 years old single male. I work out everyday for two hours, Monday through Saturday, from 5:30am to 7:30am. One hour swimming lap and one hour lifting light weight. I've been doing this since the beginning of Covid and I am a member at Equinox.

If you are talking 1 hour a day - I sacrifice other things like watching tv, relaxing etc. Sometimes I have to sacrifice an early bedtime or sleeping in. But it’s important to me so that trade off works for me.

DH works a full day in the office, comes home exhausted from his long commute (we live in LA) and somehow he finds the time and energy after dinner to get on his Peloton for 45 mins.

I run on the treadmill for 45 minutes 5-7 days per week. Always Monday through Friday but weekends are dependent on what else is going on. I need to add some strength training if some kind.

Normally 6-8 hours a week, but summer schedule has put that on pause. Hoping to start back up again soon.
