Gatehouse expected teachers to shoulder everything else, including the decision worksheets, holding meetings with families, filling out paperwork, and delivering services to the students who qualified. Zero support from Gatehouse during any part of that process. It sucked but it got done in the expected timeframe. The one part that was Gatehouse’s responsibility isn’t done right and there’s no communication with families or teachers. That tells you pretty much everything you need to know.


Headquarters of school systems always hires people at the top --and they always require teachers to do more paperwork when they should be planning and teaching.

it seems to roll up to Dawn Schaefer- she is Director of Office of Special Education Procedural Support

but there are lots of other people involved who can't give an answer on status or why the hold up.

We are at 150+ days and I can’t get an update of where we are in the process. I love that FCPS told me the timeline but they can’t stick to it.

I am in a pretty active FB group and no one has been refunded. There is going to be a coordinated effort to contact OCR about it starting on Monday


Oh great now the rest of us have to see even more resources directed to special ed complaints and suits. They have allocated $32 million for these payments so far. You will be paid. Can’t you just wait?


FCPS does everything they can to not give services to special Ed. They spend millions on attorneys to fight families. You must be a FCPS employee to be this delusional.
