What did they do?
I wish people would stop asking what these 3 teams do. They are obnoxious a-holes from top to bottom. Coaches and parents set a bad precedent It's not new - been going on for years. NVSL is too scared to do anything as well. Grow a set NVSL.
We belong to one of these pools and the swim team is awful. They’re basically teaching kids from the youngest ages to be rude and obnoxious. Funny thing is most of these kids will burn out because all the coaches and parents care about is winning now instead of long term development.
There are 102 teams in NVSL. 99 of them despise (and no Overlee, Chesterbrook, and Tuckahoe none of the 99 are "jealous" of you) 3 of them.
If I mentioned any of those 3, most of our swimmers and families wouldn’t know who they are. They don’t “despise” and they aren’t “jealous”. Those teams just aren’t on their radar.
I agree the zealous hatred of them is just as weird and sad as how you all are saying they act.
Most parents and swimmers are not thinking about these pools at all.
I’m the Overlee parent from the 90s and this is my point. Anyone who wastes any time “hating” a successful summer swim team for kids should ask themselves if they might be a little competitive themselves?
Cool...so you're 25-30 years removed from having any relevant knowledge or valuable commentary...
So you disagree with a comment and respond by being a dick? Nice. All you’ve done is prove the very point I just made. You’re no less nasty than any of the current Overlee parents you are disparaging.
Welp, it is clear you are Overlee alumni as you had to resort to using that type of language. Point proven. Culture apparently began in the 90s I now see...

Now, what about those t-shirts? Anyone?
They weren’t awful just will stick out like a sore thumb in D1. Patriotic riff….kinda looked like a Blue Lives Matter shirt.
Anonymous wrote:I'm an OKM parent. I'm scratching my head at the questionable t-shirts? Cannot imagine what on them was offensive, they definitely weren't. Not looking forward to D1 though.

We are an upper mid level team that does a B meet every year with one of the top 3. They are not nearly as obnoxious as they are at the all star meets of course but still lack the good sportsmanship of our other B meet partners. It’s also difficult for us to host their massive team every other year. There is always talk of us replacing them with someone else but I guess we keep them out of geographical convenience
What are their kids specifically doing at a B meet that shows lack of good sportsmanship? I have timed against Overlee at a B meet and saw their kids shake hands on either side of the lane at the end of each race. Wait in the lane until everyone is finished. Friendly and polite to the timers when they walk up. Zero smack talking while lining up. (Which I've never heard from any team really.) For an entire meet. The Overlee parents I timed with were friendly. Just a normal B meet.
I think it's unfair to come on here and not be specific and offer generalities.
I do think their big team (and there are others with big teams) make the meets long.
Go to one of their A meets and find out for yourself
So I was responding to a comment specifically about their B meets.

I am a Dominion Hills parent and have posted that I think some of you are a bad look. We are also in Arlington and D8. No one at our pool thinks about these teams or cares and we know many of the families and kids at both DR and Overlee.
I'd bet some at your pool do think about them. Your comment stating "no one" automatically discredits your statement because it's doubtful you have the opinion of everyone at your pool.
So how about you pick up your phone and call your Overlee friends and find out why much of NVSL dislikes them?
