It’s fun to dress up and the performers and staff at the show appreciate you showing respect for their hard work. It elevates the experience.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Parents teach respect and values to their children, including decorum and appropriate attire for various occasions. Including the Kennedy Center.

FWIW, I always find that people in DC dress up way more for the theatre than in NYC.


That’s because locals go to the Kennedy center more than locals go to broadway. Broadway is for tourists… don’t believe me? Ask a New Yorker. They’re afraid they’ll catch a case of the Ozarks if they get within a few blocks of Times Square or Broadway theaters.
