Teddy is an established nickname for Theodore. It was a US President's name, for god's sake. "Claire Bear" is a silly term of endearment. Come on.(DP)
Teddy still sounds stupid and cutesy. And Teddy Roosevelt was born over 150 years ago - just because something was done then, doesn't mean it should be done now.
