The school is like a private TJ in terms of mathematics and science. We were turned off by the small size of each grade and lack of sports. The students we know who moved from our public AAP to Basis are the brightest, much brighter than the ones we know who moved to STA, NCS, Holton, Landon, Madeira, Potomac, Little Langley and any others. We have seen students leave public because the kids can’t outcompete the smart kids. The ones who go to Basis were at the top and public was too easy for them. I toured Basis several times and my kids would not be able to keep up at Basis.
This reeks of BS.
The type of kid who goes to TJ goes to Basis. My kids are not that type. I can at least give credit where credit is due. My kids are still young so they are not in high school yet.

If you are strictly looking for academics and don’t care about the social experience or extracurriculars, Basis is probably ok.
According to Niche.com, the schools numbers look great, but our kids are into to many extracurricular activities that are non academic.

. Dude I laughed.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I honestly never paid any attention to this school until now but just googled it. They’re awfully specific about outcomes - and average test scores and college acceptances are off the charts. I can’t imagine that the Big 3 (which of course aren’t nearly as transparent) have better numbers. I know TJ’s average test scores are higher, but that’s about it. And BASIS is cheaper than the so-called “top” privates.
Not trolling. Zero connection to the school. Just genuinely curious.
Yes basis is the best. 100 percent of class of 2023 got into Harvard. Their endowment is $2 billion. They are expanding to make a BASIS Bethesda. Call now to get in - 1800-BASISROX.
Not even remotely clever.
