What is "normal"?

Y'all, being "nice" and being a "normal person" are not the same thing. Most normal people are not that nice. And the expectation for a celebrity to be nice to someone who recognizes them and wants some kind of interaction with them is much higher than the level of niceness you expect from a normal person. Also, a normal person is going to have good days and bad, will have moments of selfishness or self-involvement, and can have their behavior misinterpreted or viewed more favorably.

All celebrities are normal people, but they are not all accessible or warm to every person. In my experience, the warmest and friendliest celebrities are usually putting on a performance, playing the accessible, warm celeb that they know fans like and find appealing. Nothing wrong with it, I actually admire their ability to do that. But I don't find the celebs who choose not to do that to be "not nice" or "not normal." They just don't feel like performing that aspect of celebrity, and that's their choice and it doesn't bother me.

I have no trouble believing this at all. She seems delightful and real.

My friend lives in Nashville. Years ago she was in a couple mommy and me classes with Nicole Kidman and her daughter. She said she was incredibly down to earth and if you didn't know who she was you'd never guess she was a celebrity.

DCUM celeb nanny again - No experience with Harrison ford, so can’t say anything either way unfortunately. Pierce Brosnan *allegedly of course* had a lot of turnover and was very difficult to work for. He and his wife were *allegedly* known at nanny agencies to be a difficult employer.

Pierce Brosnan? This makes me sad as he seemed nice. His wife is beautiful but far from having a Hollywood body. This is disappointing.

You really shouldn’t take what an anonymous person wrote on an anonymous board as fact.

I know a number of NY-based celebs through our kids and most of them are super nice and normal. They’re people with jobs and families who are just trying to do their jobs and live their lives like the rest of us. I grew up in Southern California (but not LA) with a bunch of celeb families too and the ones I knew were also very nice. Jeff Bridges was a super nice dad who always asked his daughters friends about their own lives and seemed to genuinely care. I babysat for Rob Lowe’s kids and they were also a very nice, normal seeming family.
I do think the celebs who choose not to live in LA are seeking a more normal life and are happier out of the spotlight. I know several celebs now who would be happier to have a different job that was less visible but this is what they know how to do and so they do it, but they are happier when they’re home picking their kids up from school and going to the playground than dressing up for awards shows.

Any insight on Harrison Ford? He has always struck me as really down to earth and not entirely comfortable with the whole celebrity thing. I have a few 2nd or 3rd hand contacts through the general aviation community and he's reputed to be "one of the guys", at least in that setting. Really curious whether that's true overall.

My mom interacted with Harrison Ford for WORK ages ago (over 20 years ago) and still happily recounts how nice and friendly and easy-going he was.
She also said Reece Witherspoon was wonderful.
