Alexandria city is 14.9 square miles. Homicides are through the roof for such a tiny but dense city. It's insane.

You are literally safer in NYC than here. The car jackingings and homicides are crazy. Do the math yourself. NYC is much, much safer.

It is deflection from their (Wilson's and Parajon's) agenda BUT they do have a point in blaming the citizens. First, the citizens voted for Wilson and council. Second, the citizens were protesting outside of APD during the George Floyd tragedy. Blaming APD for something they had nothing to do with. Would you want to put your life on the line for citizens who hate you for no reason? Not great for moral or recruitment.

The city manager Parajon should have gotten some media coaching before appearing in that video, that's for sure. You can see how he and the city attorney, Joanna Anderson, were likely rolled by city council on the unconstitutional loan program.

No. Plenty of people, the huge majority, of any background or "race" who grow up in poverty and with trauma, do not in fact end up ever committing criminal violence. It is well established that a tiny proportion of the population who commit violent crime and do so over and over. When large portions of them are in prison, violent crime rates in a jurisdiction fall dramatically. When large portion is out of prison the violent crime rates rise.
