Yes. Of course. Why do you think otherwise?

I did exactly this the last time a friend sent me flowers—like look how nice they look in my house. I’m 60.

That’s what you are supposed to do. I’m a huge manner nerd, cotillion grad, Emily Post fan. Your friend did the most polite thing to do right now; times have changed

As opposed to what? A call?

I sent my mom flowers for her birthday. She's 73. She texted me to thank me and sent a photo when she got them. I thought that was a nice way to say thanks, so I could see how the arrangement looked.

I have no idea why OP would question whether someone is a "true friend" because they did this.

Genuinely would love to now what OP expected.

OP, are you the one who sent the flowers or are you the one who sent the thank you text?

Omg the world we live in sucks! A “friend” thanks you and for a nice gesture and it isn’t a good enough thank you?!? When you pass and I send you flowers to your grave, you better get out of your coffin and personally thank me

I am asking a question. Calm down please. Need a drink?

I’m with you, OP. When I go out of my way to send a family member something special it is just nice for them to pick up the phone. Anyone can send an impersonal text.
Clearly we are in the minority.

Pls stop sending things.

You need the stick dislodged from your behind, OP.

This is exactly what I do in situations like this. What else is there *to* do?

I had this happen too, a large bouquet to celebrate a new job after several months of looking, and hours of phone calls of her seeking advice on what to do. Nothing. I texted to ask if she had received it because I was genuinely worried they had gotten lost or misplaced and she said "Yes, thanks!".

I have not sent her a gift since.

GenX here and also think it’s perfectly normal and appropriate.
