(oh and unless Stone Ridge is changing dramatically, I don't think our son will be accepted there!)

Why would going up 270 be challenging? You’re going against traffic.

Had the opposite experience. Geneva K teachers yell a lot. Definitely do not recommend especially for an anxious child.

Maybe try the smaller private schools. I think there is a small Spanish immersion Montessori School in SW DC that still has a spot or two available.

NPS would be great for anxious kids. Small class and great counseling program. Not sure if they have space though.

+1 - Christ Episcopal School is wonderful. My child loves it and loves going to school everyday. Good luck!

Milton Gottesman is wonderful if you would consider a Jewish school - it has buses from Chevy Chase and is worth contacting. https://www.miltongottesman.org/

So I don't think that excludes Geneva, and I had no idea SR was co-ed in younger grades. I hear good things about WES - probably the thing that scares me most there is going *and* liking it so much we're trying to figure out how to cough up $35k and up for the next however many years. We have capacity to do what we need right now this year, but staring down the barrel of 8 or 12 more is a little scary (again, I know that many on here that's no big deal.)

If you're on the fence about this as a long-term plan, I'd go with a primary only-school. You'll have a natural end/reevaluation point without feeling drawn to an 8-12 year experience. These schools all end at 3rd, I believe:

- Concord Hill
- Primary Day (although doubt they have space)
- Harbor School
- Evergreen Montessori

Evergreen has very few K-2nd graders so socially that wouldn't be good. I wasn't a fan when I looked them.

Springwell has done a great job with anxious kids. Small environment with good emphasis on social/emotional development.

I heard Lowell is adding an additional K class. If so, they might have room. They have bus service too.
