No. There are plenty of mediocre rich kids. But magnet kids are selected for academics.

Of course, but the demographic population serving the W’s is richer (with fewer poor students), and that trends toward better academic performance. That gives them an edge. I’d be skeptical that demographically similar students at any of these schools perform that differently.

And Blair is in SS! TKPK is zoned there and so is part of SS.

You can say that for a lot of MoCo high schools, not just Blair.

My kid just graduated BCC and one thing we like about the neighborhood is there’s no need for a kid to have a car (we have one 10 year old car for three drivers).

The area is very walkable and if they want to go downtown or to the Montgomery Mall they can take metro or bus.

We also never did tutors or paid college prep fwiw

Lived here for a very long time and have kids in MS and HS in upcounty and have nieces and nephews in a W cluster along with friends with kids all over MCPS including those at a W. If I were to pick which W school is least difficult to not be wealthy, I would pick WJ or BCC.

No tutors, no private college counselors. kid works, kid's friends work, all attend Whitman. Will drive 12 year old car when that day arrives. There are rental buildings with many Whitman students near Westbard and Sangamore shopping centers. Many others live in rental homes. It's a big school.
