When the first line is about inheritance--which gets trotted out on Family Relationships a lot--it's understandable that someone would take it to be one of the posters who rolls up with that kind of thinking quite a lot. This forum is rife with that type of person.

This post was a supporter, OP. They were joking - “oh, wouldn’t it be suuuuch a shame if you were disinherited/banned & forbidden from going to that amaaaaazing place ever again?” (Ie - it would not be a shame, it would be great & the perfect solution since it sucks anyway).
Geez, you didn’t need to jump down their throat, I think you read a little too quickly to realize they were on your side.
I'm not OP, but I didn't read it that way at all. There ARE people who will do things for the inheritance.

My take is that he is/was, and that there is a lot of land, maybe with different corners or glades or whatever, and all able-bodied adults take a turn or have an area. Now that MIL isn't able-bodied, they were more heavily expecting OP to do the same amount of work she has done in the past. It's fine to ask, but not fine to expect or pressure.

Actually, it wasn’t clearly sarcastic. New poster and I think it read pretty crappy to be honest and in the vein of typical reactive responses here.
