I don't think that it is up to anonymous contributors to an internet forum to solve Landon's problems. (Note, the casual deflection of the Landon Booster to the "everyone else is doing it, why aren't they getting bad press too" game). However, since you asked, they need to do a top to bottom evaluation of the culture of the school, the administrative process, particularly where student conduct is concerned. They also ought to conduct a realistic analysis of the role of athletics in the school (sports are good, of course), with particular focus on the roles and rights athletes receive as compared to "regular" students.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't want to be involved with the school while (if) they do this, but it could be a much better place down the road.

I'm not a booster -- but I still don't think it's fair to blame all of the students. Some are really good kids and some aren't just like any other school

MANY private schools have incidents of kids being disciplined for smoking pot. Not every school has: (1) an SAT cheating scandal in which athletes are treated differently, (2) an alumna, also an athlete, who battered and eventually murdered a woman (3) middle school students being somewhat disciplined for making a game of sexual conquests, slurring individual girls in the process, (4) flimsy accusations of cheating against an honor roll student that raised enough racial tensions to cause a mini--strike of AA faculty at commencement. I can't think of another school that has anything comparable to even one of these incidents, certainly not all. And I suspect this is only what gets out to the public.

Landon has a problem with race, and problem with gender, a problem with athletes and a problem with privilege. I cannot think of another school that even comes close to this.

You are more than welcome to set up your own website and name the boys. There is absolutely nothing preventing you. Just as in the case of the kids who set up the website about the girls, you may suffer repercussions. But, that's just the chance you will have to take.

What a sad post. You would really judge 700 kids based on the actions of a few? What about the hundreds of great kids that go there that are now having the endure this nonsense? None of which they created or deserved. Not fair to THEM.

``Fair to THEM''? What about being fair to the girls who got dragged through the mud - or worse - by Landon and their alumni. I couldn't think of a bigger warning sign about character than a boy wearing a Landon School shirt or seeing a Landon Bears sticker on a car. I think the school should be closed


Some girls are also trash. Some guys at Landon are not trash. Can STA send it's trash to Landon? Perhaps swap some students?

My daughter has been friends with three Landon boys for the last year. I didn't give it much thought but it's just so hard to ignore all the issues around the school. I completely realize I can't try to set limits on her friendships, but still, I find that my view of those boys is deeply affected by all I hear. Alums on a schools board are not necessarily a bad thing. They seem to have the wrong alums though. I honestly don't know what you do about Landon's values problem

I'd like a Landon booster to come on this board and refute claims that lacrosse players don't get special treatment. That seems to be the core issue. I don't think they will because it will open up a can of worms.
