She either was too busy to give hugs or refused to be touched. Around age 12 she sort of mellowed out and now she comes up to us and gives hugs. It's delightful, even though sometimes her hugs feel awkward because she doesn't seem to know how to put her body in a natural hug position.
DS is 11 and has always been extremely affectionate from the time he came out of the womb. It will be interesting to see when that stops. The way he snuggles with me now would certainly not be appropriate for a 16-year old, but for now I am just soaking it all in.
Huh?

still get hugs and kisses (cheek) at home. They will literally tackle me if I pretend I don't want a hug. I am not a hugger, so we never really did that outside the home.
Identical to my 14 DS. He’s a mama’s boy.

This is me too. I'm British, so it is mostly a cultural thing for me. I was horrified when I met my husband's family for the first time in my 20s and they all hugged/kissed me (his dad and uncle even kissed me on the mouth... shudder).
