And you know that... how?

If everyone lied that would make DCUM boring. What makes it fascinating, is that people reveal their true lives, financial and otherwise
This. It’s not like we can talk with friends that we have a 7 plus figure net worth, or 4 investment properties, or high value funded 529. We live modestly and you would never guess so. Only on an anonymous board.

There is someone here who posts not infrequently who reports having a NW OF $30 million or thereabouts and also talks about a lot of donations to charity. They may also have said they are not rich enough to fly private.
There was a poster on here who said they have a $6B (B as in billion) IRA.
I mean, I can come on here and say I’m
the Princess of Wales.
But you’d be lying, because I am the Princess of Wales.

Look at Elon Musk
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I didn't say most people would have that much of NW. I said IF you're reasonably disciplined. Most Americans are not in term of savings and investments.
This is so out of touch. The reason most Americans will never have $5m net worth is not because they are not disciplined - it's because they will never make enough money to feed and house their families with enough left over to accumulate that kind of wealth. Most Americans are not making $200k a year. Get out of your bubble.
For those who do have 200k+ HHI, vast majority of them are not disciplined. There're trade offs in life. When you prioritize other things over savings and investments, you won't have a large NW. It's that simple. It's nothing wrong though. Personal choice.

Sorry gang, my daughter claims to be the Princess of Whales and I know she’s not posting here.
Have you put her on a diet yet?

I also like the threads where people with mid- or high-six figure incomes say they can't afford to pay someone to clean their house or do their yard work.
