If you absolutely must, go the “consumable” route. Wine, chocolates, a plant even. Anything she doesn’t have to keep just because you gave it to her.
I mean, a framed print? You gift people are monsters! What does she have to do, hang it forever or break up with him?
I suggested a framed print of campus with the cavest *if she loved the school. Why do you take such affront to this?
Also, so many would find your suggestions duds. Guess what. Not everyone is like you. She may hate chocolate or not drink. Or be an alcoholic-- so, turn in your gift police badge. I know my grad would love a print of her campus, and she doesn't drink.
The assumption that there are right and wrong answers hereis silly and the outrage ludicrous. Can't we all just make suggestions and let OP decide? That's all that she asked.
No one would want a framed print of the campus. Bit bizarre.
You wouldn't which is fine. But others would which is also fine. No need to respond at all, since your extreme statement was already disproved in PP's earlier response. Why, is it so hard to just let people offer suggestions?
How many 18 year old girls do you know that would want that?

This is what I’m getting DS’s girlfriend.
You all are making me think. A $200 bag for a girlfriend. We gave our nephew $100 cash. Our HH income is 150 to 175 K. Am I just completely off base or are you all more well-off?
We do make more and DS has been with his GF for a year. She comes from a family that doesn’t give her much, so it may be the only gift she gets.

We don't know her well enough to get her a piece of jewelery and our son doesn't want us to get her a gift card. Of course he doesn't have any other ideas. We suggested a nice throw blanket, but he vetoed that too, because she has so many. Anyone have some good ideas? She is taking a year off before going to grad school

The only thing that was appealing to me was a initial necklace (didn’t seem too personal) and the computer bag.

How about a nice gift card to a dinner for your son and his girlfriend?
Depends on the restaurant. My kid refuses to eat at fancy adult restaurants.
