Kate probably paid partial tuition at the day school and they helped them earn scholarships for college. Private universities have endowments with resources to support bright kids with exceptional circumstances.

No she doesn't. She's still in high school and will be graduating soon.
Collin intends to join the military (or already joined?). Mady and Cara are graduating from Syracuse and Fordham this year. Not sure what the other 5 plans are.
How did they afford the out of state tuition?
Parent Plus loans

In her situation, I probably would have sent kids to public school but I won’t criticize her for sending the kids to LCDS. I also definitely won’t criticize her for having her kids go to the likes of Fordham and Syracuse and U of Miami over the PA State Colleges.
I seriously doubt those kids are paying full price for those colleges. They would have to get some combination of merit aid and need based aid.

Mady has said on tiktok that she is not receiving parental help for college and has loans. I believe Alexis also said that she's paying for college. Pretty despicable that their parents blew all that money instead of helping their kids out.
Bull. No way a student can’t pay over $50,000 without any money.
There are ways. My husband's son claims to have $400K in student loan debt.
Completely possible for professional grad programs, without even needing a co-signer.

Um it was Kate. Especially once they split Jon stopped being involved with the show. The kids should've also had at least 15% deposited into an account for them as per the Coogan Law (I think that's what it's called).
And therein lies the issue with reality TV. The Coogan Law is for work done in the state of California. NY, IL, NM, and LA have also passed the Coogan Law in their states for child actors. Other states have rules about work hours for minors but not all have rules about money being set aside for the kids.
PA did enact some regulations in 2013 as a result of the Gosselin kids. The regulations included working hours limits, a teacher needing to be present during filming for schooling, trust accounts, and the need for work permits for the kids.
