Going on a trip is not what people mean by mental health day. You’re giving teachers a bad name, OP.
Nope. They earned that time so it's theirs to do with it what they want.
What? I hope you are very young and just haven’t learned how to be a professional yet. You are certainly entitled. My niece has this attitude.
It’s not accurate, by the way. If you check your organization’s policies, sick leave can only be used for certain things. A trip to NYC is not one of them.

Who is cheating their leave? They have the time and use it.
Sick leave is for when you are sick. Not when you want to travel to NYC.
Sure it is.
I'm sick of kids. And parents. And admins. And colleagues like you. I'm on the verge of exhaustion and a panic attack. I'm going to take a mental health day.
And I'm going to be wherever I please on that day. There's nothing you can do. Feel free to think that you're more professional than some of your fellow teachers. It does not matter.

This thread shows how truly important parents think they are.
Um, they are? How are they not in your view?

No, it shows that this particular teacher is woefully unprofessional and doing a disservice to her colleagues by claiming to represent them here.

If you're missing assignments and critical content, I do have an issue with that. You have all summer (and don't give me crap about not . . . . I know LOTs and lots and lots of teachers and they do nothing but hang all summer, which is FINE btw. But their not training and doing lesson plans like the blathering I hear on here).
No one care about you or your AP DD.....and we will give you whatever "crap" we want. I'm sure you know LOTS of teachers(wink wink)just shut it.

Everyone already hates us. Oh well.
