what happened with the Encore teachers? Haven't heard anything which considering it's ACPS seems to make sense.

That new MH building is towering over the Bradlee Center.

I know, it's HUGE and that's great! The next two schools to be built - George Mason and Cora Kelly should be the same. Hopefully the mayor and city council actually win on killing height restrictions in the George Mason area so they can build out AND up. Right now, I think they can only do four stories. They didn't get it in time for MacArthur...hope Nate Macek's been planning with his bestie the mayor to get it done for George Mason.

This sorority… figurative or literal?

Didn’t get the superintendent job so moved on. ACHS might need two principals since it’s the size of two schools at least.

He (and Mazur) don't score high enough on the intersectionality scale for superintendent. They should know this and not bother.

Why did he waste his time? And why is he posting about not getting the job on Facebook?

That's interesting. From what I know, folks always had strong feelings about him. You loved him or hated him. This was true at all levels: central office, school staff, parents. I imagine that it was safer to go with a less polarizing choice.

Well, he's on an ACPS mom's facebook page saying that he's really restraining himself from commenting on the GW parents page incase he gets considered in the future. But he didn't get an interview this time. And he's not bright enough to know that comment does the damage anyway.

It was a national search for a black or Latino woman from an ultra liberal school system that ACPS would be a step up from. That person turned out not to exist.

No one in their right mind would want this job.

Why not?! There are extremely low expectations. Zero expectation that you will engage with the few parents who complain (if you ignore them or attack them outright you are praised). The ones who don't complain will fiercely defend you. The entire city makes excuses for the schools ultra poor performances.

. . . as the parents with means quietly enroll their kids in private or parochial schools.

True. Or try to. Some of the biggest defender of ACPS that I know couldn't get their kids into private or parochial. They've doubled down and become more vicious.

And then Wilson and the establishment look at the stagnant to lowering enrollment projections and say, ACPS capacity needs are lessening and all is hunky dory with the school system
