I’m not shopping anywhere that hires a security guard. It’s offensive and verily reeks of racism.

I know I’m going to be checking the box for people who want to fund the police.

It's not getting sold on Amazon. It ends up in bodegas and shipped abroad. There's a network of middlepeople that facilitate this. Tide is the street currency.

If a fraction of the registered Republicans in Ward 3 had opted to Register as Democrats and voted in the Democratic primary, it would have been enough to change the outcome. The difference was only 2,371 votes. Let's face it, the Democratic primary is the only one that counts in D.C.; to my knowledge, a Republican has ever defeated a Democrat in a contested general election. Even if people don't like that, they can still vote for the Democrat they like in the primary and a Republican in the general (it's not like Krucoff was running against anyone in the Republican primary).
From my experience working the polls, though, very few D.C. voters - no matter their SES or how long they've lived here - have any idea about the policies of the people they vote for. I'd gather most wouldn't even be able to tell you all of the people they vote for (particularly in the Board of Elections, Attorney, and even some At-Large Council races), and would know even fewer of the other candidates who were running.

Also - all this rampant theft creates huge problems for us all. Ever try to buy basics like deodorant at the Tenleytown Target? Literally everything is under lock and key.
You have to push a button, and maybe, if you're lucky, a clerk comes by 5 minutes later to unlock it for you. Or they don't and you just stand around like an idiot. Basically renders the place useless.

And yet I bet you just couldn’t come to vote for the left leaning Ward 3 Republican in the last election, could you? The horror of the thought of 1 out of 13 council members being an independent voice was just too triggering. Now we’re stuck with lame duck Frumin who cruises around the Ward on his bike like some Bon vivant looking for a fresh baguette. While the city is cratering and his ward becoming a crime zone his most recent piece of legislation was to declare May “Old People are Cool Month.” We’re all doomed this summer once it heats up and I fully expect that the mayor will call out the national guard which is why the Chief left when he did.

A+
All posts should meet this high bar of righteous mockery of our councilmembers.

It's not about the stuff that's being stolen. It's about the peace of mind of the shoppers. The people who are shopping there and witness an act of bulk theft have talked about how shaken they are by it. They want the CVS staff to intervene to protect the shoppers!
Not exactly something in the CSV associate job responsibility, I'm sure.
Just how exactly does witnessing a poor person taking something they need threaten you?
They aren’t taking it from you - they’re taking from a giant billion dollar corporate retailer. How are you possibly threatened by that?
I’m guessing this is really just about you not liking POC. Because you’re a RACIST.
Eventually these stores will close - like the Walmart's in DC, and Starbucks which were getting repeatedly robbed.
These aren't people taking "what they need" they are people stealing stuff to resell.
Fine. Then let them close it. Doesn’t affect me in the least. I can get anything I needed by Instacart, peapod or Amazon.
