…are not the keys to happiness? And maybe, just maybe, there were ulterior motives when entertainment executives pushed this bill of goods on women via entertainers like Handler?
Well, I disagree that she was pushed as a bill of goods. That's some weird conservative energy right there. From what I can see, she worked hard and is fairly brilliant. As far as who she is, she's one manifistation of our culture, circa 1975ish when she was born (not sure that's correct, but within a couple years ok)
Not a conservative. Lol. Watched her show at its peak and even read her first couple of books on airplanes. She has always been human trash. And the glorification of what she pushed ruined a lot of lives — including her own.
"What she pushed" -- what's that? Not a baby? Look, the perspectives of women outside norms have always been welcome relief to other women outside norms. What's with the paranoia that a woman slept around, had abortions, talked about it, is going to corrupt girls uninterested in those ideas?
Best way to ensure your daughters stay on straight/narrow is to actually be a great parent, if you know how. You have weird ideas, so I doubt it.
She got rich and famous glorifying abortion and vile debauchery. And now look at what that led to, a miserable broken and lonely old woman. Rich but so what. She’d trade all the money for a dentist husband and two kids.

I am reading the "life will be the death of me" book, and most of my questions are answered. 1) She talks about being the one of 9 enneagram types that has the least empathy, and then she reflects on it, a lot! 2) She suffered from trauma of her brother Chet's death, then that her parents were just unavailable after 3) she was totally driven to be famous and to never be uncomfortable again 4) her parents seem narcissistic (dad) and enabler (mom)
And in conclusion, she is a traumatized person who was lost and then found, through therapy, in 40s, as it tends to happen for women. Decades of crap happen before you can slow down and think about your life, when you have trauma. This is why I felt led to understand Chelsea better. I get now, we both had trauma and kept moving until we had to stop and think.

No, she really wouldn't. She says that if she'd married either of the two guys she could have married, she'd have been divorced by now. And she saya that she is uncertain she could have been a good mother. So this result is way better for everyone.
As the child of a woman who would have been better off not marrying, and not being a mother, I would applaud more women taking their time, giving it thought, and focusing on career.
The only thing Chelsea could have done different was getting herself therapized earlier.
Good morning brunch granny.
Except it’s not like she’s all better now.

I love Tina fey, and like Amy schumer (though she is also a little blunt for me.) But something about Chelsea handler is really obnoxious and puts me off.
She’s insecure about those choices.
Bill Maher is similarly going through some bizarre insecurities related to aging. He’s constantly fixating on age on his show and podcast.
