It really surprised me when brickskeller closed — they were really unique and it was always crowded. And it’s not like fancy beer has gone out of favor — I think it’s more popular now than it was 30 years ago.
A friend worked there. It was due to ownership/management not really knowing how to run such a business. The demand was there, but they failed when it came to execution.
It was a total mess 20 years ago, they NEVER had anything in stock. I would always give the server my top 3 beers, and 9 times out of 10, she would STILL have to come back to get another order because they were all out of stock.
