My parents were 63 and 64 when my older child was born. My former sister-in-law was 34 when she became a grandmother (don’t recommend that route!) while my mother-in-law was also in her 30s when she first became a grandma and 61 when she became a great-grandmother.

City kids grow up slow. Graduate HS, graduate college, gap year to travel, master’s degree, more travel, start dating, maybe get married at 35 but probably not.

I had my first at 30 and would like my kids to have kids by 30. However, i hope for them to do it whenever they are ready, it can be 27 or 37 or never.

Maybe in your world. I got married at 18 and had my first at 19, my son got married at 20 and had his first at 22. Nothing inappropriate about it.

I am 35 and know tons of people from childhood who babies from age 17-24.

It has nothing to do with “generation” and everything to do with where you live/grew up & religiosity.

That's probably a different culture and waiting to have kids at 40 and grandchildren at 80 is probably disgusting to them.

My grandma had 4 daughters, got 6 grandkids from one daughter (1st gkid at age of 40) and only one from other 3 daughters (at age 65).

Most of my cousins do not have kids, despite being in their late 30s, 40s and 50s. Much to the despair of their parents.


Biggest family I grew up near had 5 kids and only 1 had child. All those kids now in late 50s so no more than that 1 grandkid for that family when think the mom thought she’d have many.
