well the good news is that Daniel Radcliffe said he's not going to be in this HBO series. Hopefully that means Grint and Watson and the others won't as well.

Honestly, I remember being a child and being SO EXCITED to go see The Sorcerer's Stone when it came out, and the movie ended up being disappointing. Never felt fulfilled as a book fan, by the movies. So I'm hoping this series will be a genuine improvement.

The show will draw a large number of viewers from pre-teens to adults in their 40's -50's who grew up with the books/movies. It's incredibly smart on their part to select a hugely successful movie series (based on amazing books) and have guaranteed 7 seasons of content. The movies will never cover enough of the books as die hard fans want. There just isn't time. A TV series? Plenty of time! You're looking at 8-12 hours minimum vs. 2hrs.

I'd love if they brought back the original characters for little moments here and there (like Daniel playing James Potter), but I'm perfectly happy with a completely new cast. I'm not quite a die hard HP fan, but I would guess I'm close. I found it during a particularly rough time in my life. Can't wait!

This show will be huge. At least on par with game of throne - but probably much bigger.

The tricky thing for these production companies like HBO is that they ARE successful remakes of books - Game Of Thrones, Bridgerton, Mad Men, etc.

So, by their logic, it's a win-win. No need to spend time and money on a script (bc there's already a published book series) and there's a natural curiosity from the public to see a book come to life on the big screen. - ie money.
