12 years of soccer
4 years of school bands (2 years as a leader) - never took formal music lessons.
elected student representative ( 2 years)
8 years of active church volunteer (homeless shelters, hospices, daycares, elderly facilities, tree planting, etc..)
Also, Took BC Calculus and AP physics in 11 grade

Look at the linked in for some of these kids and you can decide if you think they impress or not. It has been posted over and over and over that the rigor and the grades and the first in class status is what all the applicants have. What else do they bring to the table that makes the ivies compete for them. It always seems to be some freaky standout talent ar something.

I think my liberal arts kid likes the academics at these two over those of more pompous Ivy schools. They are both more laid back and friendly and somewhat flexible for those in the ‘love to learn ‘ category.
Agree - my kid felt the same way and applied to both and got in one ED. I don’t think it’s odd an odd combo at all.

I wonder what the acceptance rate at those is for an unhooked white or asian applicant with 4.0+ 1500+? I’m guessing lower than the blended rate. Maybe much lower.

My kid chose colleges based on academics. Those two seemed like they would provide the type of experience he was looking for. Location was irrelevant. Weather was mostly irrelevant. He'll choose from among the liberal arts colleges he was accepted to.

Not PP but they are vastly different schools. Many apply to all the Ivies often blindly
