Actually law enforcement focuses quite a lot on the up the chain narcotics dealers because they know that's where the real impact is made, not the run of the mill corner drug seller. So yes we should have the same approach with regard to gun trafficking.
Yeah we’re totally going to stamp out guns just like we’ve stamped out heroin. Correct me if I’m wrong, but is there anywhere in the United States where heroin is legal?

Effin red states. The hypocrisy of the GOP that loves to point out Democrat city crime rates while ironically, red states' inability to crack down on straw purchase trafficking contributes considerably to democratic city gun crime.
Effing blue criminals. The hypocrisy of the DNC.
Why are you here?
Did you not see the title of this board? It's "DC Urban Mons and Dads." It's not "Red State Yahoos and Gun Nuts."
Why do you feel compelled to come here and be an idiot? Do you think we are missing something? Do you think we haven't heard the crap you come here and parrot from FOX News, Daily Caller and all the other far right mouthpieces? Because we have already heard it all. Do you think we don't think about your point of view? We do, and we still disagree. Do you think you're convincing any of us to change our minds? You aren't.
And who cares what you think?
These are not Republican voters committing these crimes in DC.
These are your fellow Democrats.
Facts matter except to fools like you.
Do you think I believe I can change your mind?
I dont. But, I do like to point out the obvious that completely goes right past you.
And its fun for me to do so!
What keeps going right past YOU is the FACT that if Republican voters passed sensible, responsible gun laws, there would be a whole lot less gun crime - not just in DC but EVERYWHERE IN THE US because it also happens in red states too - and when you look at the per-capita rates some of the reddest counties are even worse than DC for gun deaths. Is it fun for you to be embarrassed and proven wrong? Because, you just were.
Democrat cities in red states are where all the gun crimes are committed by Democrat criminals.
Nice try at gas lighting.
Go back to watching your Reid Out.
I have a no fear whatsoever of being robbed or car jacked when I walk out my front door and you cannot truthfully say the same thing.
They buy their guns from republican gun nut sellers who don't care about straw purchases. You cant have one without the other
If you are referring to gun shows, only 2% of gun crimes can be traced to purchases at gun shows. Fact.
1st, how about having your Democrat prosecutors do their jobs and send your Democrat criminals to jail for long prison sentences?
No, I'm referring to gun sellers in red states and the criminals there who can buy guns in bulk and traffic them without repercussions. So how about Red state representatives actually pass laws to curtail straw purchases (clearly blue state laws WORK or our criminals wouldn't have to turn 100s of miles away for guns, no?) and red state police and prosecuters do their job to investigate and crack down on straw purchases.
Plentiful research that shows that a good chunk of gun sellers are willing to sell knowingly to a potential straw purchaser or willfully ignore signs of a straw purchaser. Interesting how you turn a blind eye to those criminals.
Straw purchasers contribute to gun crime everywhere, why don't red states bother to crack down on them better?
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2937134/
"Twenty percent of the licensed firearm retailers in our study population agreed to assist a potential handgun buyer with a transaction that had many attributes of an illegal surrogate or “straw” purchase. Others, while saying no, offered the buyer concrete assistance in completing a purchase they appeared to understand was against the law. In multivariate analysis, pawnbrokers were more than six times as likely as gun dealers to give a positive response."
https://injuryprevention.bmj.com/content/9/2/147
Most dealers were willing to sell a handgun regardless of the end user (self: 87.5%; gift: 70.8%; “need”: 52.5%). Multivariate analyses indicate that dealers in the Midwest, South, and West were more willing to sell than those in the Northeast (adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 21.30, 18.74, and 8.93, respectively) and that willingness to sell is lower when the sale would be illegal, that is, under the “need” condition (AOR = 0.20)
So sure, perhaps we need DC to file more lawsuits like this, repeatedly. We know that GOP states don't give a flying hoot about what their gun sellers do.
