He would have no shot. He’s already dug his grave.

Let's start a movement to get him to run for state delegate. Minimize the damage.

He's going for Cardin's job. He has presidential aspirations and wants a national platform.

I believe only 35% of Moco voted last election. HOpefully the county wakes up and votes for moderate candidates next election to stop the bleeding that is occuring.

In November 2022, Montgomery County had about 687,000 registered voters, and at least 343,371 of them voted in the election. I.e., half of the registered voters in Montgomery County voted in the last election.

the real election was in July

I don't know what to tell you, other than that I worked at the polls for the primary and the general election, and they were both real elections.

Get rid of the Net Zero upgrades in the capital budget and free up about 5% of unnecessary costs. That will allow some projects to move more quickly.

Anonymous wrote:Just raise the price of a home then to cover the tax loss.

It's amazing how much schools blow up taxes in MoCo, and its not like schools have gotten better. MCPS have been going down the toilet for 30 years, yet the solution is to throw more money at the problem. It's also amazing how much dems in MoCo hate home owners. They constantly kowtow to renters and the poor, and penalize everyone who has worked hard for what they have. They are going to drive out everyone with means, education, and good jobs from MoCo as taxes keep spiraling upwards. The tax base will crumble and the solution of course will be to raise taxes again, kicking off a death spiral. They are repeating Baltimore's mistakes all over again. Everyone will move to NoVa, PG, AA, or Howard. MoCo is already a joke in terms of economic growth while the counties around MoCo are now eclipsing MoCo. It absolutely shows that MoCo's rot is a MoCo specific problem. All of the clowns living in MoCo get what they deserve since they vote for the same.

Poor people work hard as hell. What is your opinion even worth after making a statement implying that poor people are lazy. Talk about being a clown!

It's not about working harder. It's about working smarter. I'm sure scrubbing poop out of toilets, frying french fries, and doing landscaping in 100 degrees is hardwork, but it doesn't require tremendous intellect or special skills. That's why they pay trash salaries, yet all this council does is bend over backwards for the lowest of of the lows of society while penalizing the middle class that actually have educations and who make more because they made better decisions in life.

People with means will leave as taxes keep going up and up and up. MoCo will be left with the poors for a tax base. There's literally no way out of this death spiral MoCo is in with increasing taxes and a deteriorating tax base, because the county can't economically grow. Leadership is hostile to business and too far left to promote private industry jobs. We shouldn't be constantly bending over backwards for the lowest members of society who demand the govt do everything for them. We should be providing a ladder that goes upwards. That starts by creating better jobs and jobs opportunities, which requires better plans for economic growth and bringing in companies, not taxing the crap out of people.

Yes trust me I know the score. “Working smarter” is just a spineless way to say that the wealthy have rigged the game! You create the perfect structure of social cues and esoteric requirements that are just beyond the reach of anyone who had a difficult childhood or unexpected life circumstances. You wax rhetorical about “economic opportunity” and “better jobs” while ignoring the historically low unemployment rate of 2.4% in MoCo that has done nothing to allow a middle class family to live near their employment. You also ignore the fact that the Federal Reserve is currently on a path to protect wealthy investors and business executives at the expense of intentionally putting millions of innocent workers out of a job. They should have just been smarter! Medical crisis that puts you in perpetual debt? Should have been smarter! Abused by your parents and failed by your local school? Should have been smarter! Lost your job because some executive sent your job to China? Should have been smarter!

You might think you have it all figured out but then didn’t the smartest people in France feel the same way in 1788?

What are you blathering about? I am not rich. Yet I will get slammed by these taxes. I spent time studying in high school rather than hanging out on the streets like a loser. I went to college and studied engineering and got good grades, rather than being some imbecile party animal. I went out and got a respectable job.

No, I didn't come from money either. My mom worked for the state making $40k per year and dad was a blue collar worker.

Keeping on taxing successful people in MoCo who've made the right decisions in life. We will get up and move after we are fed up with the assault on our wallets. Have fun maintaining your county budget when all you're left with are poor people who work minimum wage jobs. First the tax base flees, everything the county attempts to provide decline, and then property values get hit next. The county govt panics about the declining revenue and their only solution is to keep raising taxes.

Death.Spiral.

Oh I see now. You were smarter than me for being born to a two parent household and not allowing yourself to be abused or ending up with any sort of debilitating medical condition! Good job!

Not np, but jumping in! I had a pretty sh tty childhood, dysfunctional family on every level, and I was dirt poor. I made a decision to keep my head in the books and go to school everyday, boys were out of the question. I was getting out of this life I was born into, and yes my mother was a single parent. People make choices which affect their future, you have the right to make the same choices I made. I had student loans, I paid them off, I worked two to three jobs at times so I could have the life I wanted for my future family. I bought my first house with my own money that I worked my ass off to earn. I have no intention of continuing to support anyone who doesn't put in the effort I put into making the life I made for myself. Notice how I use the word I so much, because it was all on me, not the government to give me handouts and tax others to pay my way. I never wanted that and I look back on everything I accomplished with government handouts and without whining and I am content and happy. I left MC because I saw what it was becoming, a social experiment with a welfare state population. You have fun with that, I am not paying for any of it any longer.

You turned your back on your own peers in order to get ahead. That’s the price that you had to pay for the privilege of being better off.

And good for him/her for doing so. We are all individuals in the US.

Agreed. People need to help themselves first and foremost.

Ever been on a plane? Put your oxygen mask on first before assisting others. Society doesn't work without putting yourself first, then help others.
