Above posters. I find myself speaking up for my kid ... "Mom, stop. Your grandson wants you to hear this. Please. Stop talking. Ok... Let it be said your grandson did in fact wish you a happy birthday and asked how you're doing. "

With my dad no such problem though he does have hearing problems
So it’s not the ears it’s them not really caring to hear you.
With mom I would just let her talk. She hardly ever said anything meaningful anyway, and she didn’t perceive anything I said adequately either. She would sometimes use what I told her against me.

Same. Then she complains I don't ask about her life. Mom I can't get a word in and you don't hear me when I do!

Yes, my parents use this

Some people, like veterans, can get one for free.

After a LOT of effort and red tape. My father, WW2 and Vietnam war veteran, in the Battle of the Bulge and Patton's Army, could not get a hearing aid covered until well into his 80s.

This isn't dementia, people. It's some sort of incompatibility between the cell phone and the copper wire line where there is a split second delay. I had this problem for years with my parents. When they switched to a voip line it was gone.

My mom has hearing aids but only wears them to church. I've tried everything but I'm thinking about trying grandpad. I'm at the end of my rope.
